Questions & answers

When is Hajk open?

The season starts on June 1 and ends on September 15.

Security

Staying at Hajk should be a special and genuine nature experience. Living in nature can be associated with risks, being in the forest can be dangerous. This means you need to be careful when staying with us. It is important to pay attention to where you put your feet – for example, you can trip on fallen branches or slip on slippery rocks.

There is a first aid kit in the basecamp in case of an accident. For all these types of damage, the guest assumes his/her own risk and responsibility.

Responsibility of the guest

Please read the booking confirmation carefully and let us know if you find any inaccuracies by sending an email to info@hajk.se.

To make your stay with us as good as possible, it is important that you let us know right away if there is anything that does not meet your expectations of us, so that we have a chance to fix the problem.

The right of public access means that you should not disturb or destroy nature. We therefore kindly ask you to respect the place you are in and not to destroy or litter nature. This also means keeping a reasonable noise level while in the forest. For more information on how to behave in nature, see the Finnish Nature Agency.

You can make a fire in the fireplace next to the tent, but only use the wood we provide. It is not allowed to cut trees or branches of trees. It is also not allowed to peel bark from living trees.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Checking in and out

Check-in at 15:00 – Check-out at 10:00

Respecting nature – Allemansrätten

The basic principle of the right of public access is to be considerate, not to disturb and not to destroy.
It is important that we respect nature and the fragile ecosystem we visit. Walk only on footpaths, do not pick moss from rocks and do not cut trees or branches from trees.

Fire ban

You may only light a fire in the spark-proof fireplace provided in the tent. There is the least risk of the fire spreading and causing damage to the landowner. Use only firewood supplied by us. If that’s not enough, more wood is available at Basecamp.

If there is a fire ban on the site, no fires may be started. The gas stove can be used even if there is a fire ban, but be careful.

How to get there

About a week before your arrival date, we will send you an email with the exact coordinates of your camp. We recommend that you enter the coordinates in Google Maps or use the link we send you in the email.

There is no street address for Hajk to enter into the GPS.

Transportation to Hajk’s camp is not included in the price.

Wi-Fi

In Hajk’s camp there is limited mobile phone coverage for most subscriptions. Wifi is available at the basecamp/reception for emergencies. SMS always works.

Things to bring from home

About a week before arrival, we will send you an email with useful information and a packing list. What we always recommend, however, is to check the weather forecast for the days you will be staying with us and to bring clothes suitable for the weather. (such as rainwear, hiking boots, a warm sweater for the evening or swimwear).

  • A lighter backpack for hiking
  • Water bottle
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Sun protection

We do not serve alcoholic drinks, but you are free to bring your own. Water, coffee and tea are available at the campsite.

Put on comfortable shoes for the hike through the forest. It can be muddy and wet along the trail so it’s best to have a pair of hiking boots.

Comfortable evening clothes to put on after a long day of hiking.

Combustion

You may only light a fire in the fireplace adjacent to the tent, where the fire is least likely to spread and cause damage to the landowner.
You may only use wood that Hajk has left at the tent, if you need more, it is available at Basecamp/reception.

Fire ban – If there is a fire ban, no fires can be lit at the campsite – not even in the fireplaces. You can use the gas stove if there is a fire ban, but of course you should be careful. We will provide more information if there is a fire ban during your stay.

Children at Hajk

The Shark Experience is designed to give couples and adults traveling together the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful nature experience.

We have carefully selected the most beautiful locations we could find for our camps & hikes, and these locations are often somewhat remote and difficult to access to ensure a secluded and peaceful experience. It is worth noting that this can make it difficult for children to complete the walk. As many of our guests choose to come here to experience the peace and quiet of nature, we encourage everyone to respect and keep a reasonable noise level,

Many of our hiking trails require you to be able to walk at least 17 kilometers. Therefore, we do not consider it appropriate for children under 10 years old to stay with us at Hajk. We of course welcome children under the age of 10, but whether children can manage the hike is the responsibility of the parents.

Day number – Emergency contact

For emergencies, you can reach us on +46 708 12 80 12.
If you need to contact the fire brigade, ambulance or police, call 112.

Accessibility for the disabled

Hajk offers a handicapped accessible tent and a handicapped accessible basecamp. It is important to note that while we strive for accessibility in some parts of our activities, nature itself is not accessible to people with disabilities. Our tent site can be difficult to access for wheelchairs due to a 200 meter hilly path through the forest from the parking lot to the tent and height differences between the ground and the tent. Unfortunately, the hiking trails are also not adapted for wheelchairs.
